Quite a few of us are a little embarrassed about showing off our bodies because our midsection looks a little plump. Yet now is a great time with summer just a few weeks away to get a waistline that is fit and trim.

Diet of course plays a huge part in being able to get a flat stomach along with performing the right sorts of exercises for your abs you should soon start to see some difference to your midsection.

Having said that if you do stick to a healthy lifestyle whilst carrying out the 5-ab exercises below you should begin to see your stomach getting much flatter and fitter before summer finally does arrive.

Exercise 1 – Abdominal Backstroke

This particular exercise isn’t only effective at helping to target your abdominal muscles but will also help to tone up your whole core including the obliques.

In order to perform this exercise properly you must sit on a mat in a reclined position with your feet on the floor. Your knees should be bent and your hands should be resting on the floor beside the knees.

Now you need to circle one arm back behind you whilst remaining in the reclined position. It is important that you don’t recline too far back so that your feet are off of the mat as this then means that your abs won’t be engaged.

You need to be pushing yourself to complete 3 sets of 20 reps with both your left and right hands.

Exercise 2 – Side Plank Crunch

In order to target the obliques as well as giving the rest of your body a good conditioning this exercise will help. You need to lie on your side with not only your legs, but also your hips and upper body off of the floor. You need to make sure that your elbow is providing support to your body as you do this. However make sure that you don’t actually sink down from your shoulders.

Once you have lifted up your legs, hips and upper body you need to twist and rotate the upper part of your body towards the floor. Making sure that your legs remain off the floor and straight. You should hold the rotation for around 3 seconds and then return to the position you started in. If you really want to feel the burn you should be aiming to complete 3 sets of 12 rotations for each side of the body.

Exercise 3 – Leg Lift

This exercise may not sound very effective when wanting to tone up your abs, but it is. If you want this exercise to be really effective you must make sure that your keep your abs engaged at all times.

To carry out this exercise you need to lie on a mat on your back then you need to raise one leg in the air in order that it forms a 90-degree angle to your body. As you raise and lower each leg make sure that your abs are fully engaged at all times. If you notice that your back is arching as you do this exercise then this immediately tells you that your abs are engaged fully.

You raise and lower your legs in a scissor like movement, as this will really help you to work your abs. Also you should be aiming to complete at least 3 sets of 15 reps for each leg.

When done correctly by you not only will you be toning up your abs but the rest of the core muscles in your body such as the oblique’s, glutes, legs and hip flexors.

Exercise 4 – Jack Knife

Although this exercise may sound a little scary it isn’t. Again lie down on the on a mat with your arms above your head and resting on the floor. Now you need to lift your arms and legs at the same time so that they meet each other at the top and you find yourself in a kind of folded position. Once you have raised them as high as you can you now lower them back to the floor.

To ensure that you are carrying out this exercise properly don’t jerk your body or use your momentum to help lift your arms and legs up instead it is important that you use muscle strength only. Initially start of doing 1 set of 12 reps but over time you need to be building up so that you are able to complete 3 sets of 12 reps without any real problems.

If you keep at this exercise you will find that not only your abs but also your hip flexors will get in to better shape as well.

Exercise 5 – Lower Body Bicycle

When doing this exercise like the leg lift you need to make sure that your back isn’t arching as you carry this one out. If your back is arching then your abs aren’t engaged and they won’t become stronger.

To work the core muscles including your abs and legs you must like on a mat on your back and then bend your knees to a 90-degree angle. Now extend and then lower one of your legs forward so that it is parallel with the floor. Remember to make sure that you keep abs flat and engaged as you do this. Now hold your leg out straight for 3 seconds before bringing it back to the starting position. Once you have returned the leg to the original position do the same with the other one.

In order for this exercise to be truly effective you should be aiming to complete 3 sets of 20 reps for each leg.

Finally it doesn’t matter what exercises you do you need to make sure that you also are eating a healthy well balanced diet and following as active a lifestyle as possible. If you do then it won’t be long before you start to reap the benefits and have a body you can be proud of this summer.

There are plenty of people around who are willing to invest large sums of money in the hope of getting great looking abs in a short space of time. There are those who opt to undergo medical procedures to get theirs. Yet by following the right sort of diet to reveal abs can prove a much more cost effective way.

Okay it will take longer, but not only will using such a diet with the right kind of exercise regime help to reveal your abs. But you will find that this diet will help to other areas of your health and the way you look.

The diet to reveal abs that you should be using is the kind that incorporates foods that will not only help you to remain energized when working out. But will also provide your body with the kinds of minerals, vitamins and nutrients it needs in order to function properly and maintain your enhanced fitness levels.

The kind of diet you should be done is one that includes food that contain one of the three following components in them.

Component 1 – Protein

Any diet you are wishing to use that will help to remove unwanted fat especially to help flatten your stomach must contain protein in it. This is a component that will help build up abdominal muscle along with helping to rid your body of the unwanted belly fat you have gained. Also a diet that includes plenty of protein in it is one that will help to improve the overall condition of tissue and organs within your body. Plus with protein included in your diet you won’t find yourself feeling so hungry so often as these help to make you feel fuller after they have been eaten. The kinds of foods that you should be eating as part of your diet to reveal abs includes meat especially the red kind, milk and fish.

Component 2 - Dietary Fats

Normally we think of fats being bad for us and so at all costs should be avoided when attempting to lose weight and body fat. Yet you may be amazed to discover that there are certain fats that are essential to your diet. Just like protein these are needed in order to help your body function properly and effectively. What happens is that our body actually learns how to metabolize fat to provide us with an additional energy source and also will help to regulate most of the processes our bodies carry out better. Also by ensuring that including dietary fats in your diet will help to keep insulin levels in the body more balanced. However if these levels are allowed to exceed what is considered normal it will result in your body retaining fat rather than losing it.

Component 3 – Carbohydrates

Everywhere you will find information about how crucial carbohydrates are to a diet as they provide a good source of fuel to keep our bodies working when we are exercising. However rather than eating carbohydrates prior to working out you should make sure that you eat them afterwards as part of your diet to reveal abs. Not only doing this will ensure that you have sufficient energy afterwards to help your body recover more effectively after each workout, but also it reduces the risk of the carbohydrates then turning to fat and your body storing them.

Many of the diets that people use today in order to lose weight require them to cut out particular types of foods. However when it comes to improving the condition of your abdominal muscles you should be looking at eating the right foods rather than restricting what you eat. Below we take a look at the 12 different foods that you should be looking to include in your diet when trying to improve the condition of your abs.

Food 1 – Nuts
It is important that you eat only nuts which have the skins still on them. These are particularly good as they help to build muscle and work like an appetite suppressant, so stop food cravings.

Food 2 – Beans
This includes such ones a soybeans, chickpeas, lima and kidney beans again these help to build up muscle, but also help to burn fat and can help to regulate a person’s digestive system.

Food 3 – Green vegetables including spinach.
These contain a number of different vitamin properties including A, C and K as well as minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Plus provide good amounts of fiber. All of which can help to neutralize free radicals in the body and slow down the aging process.

Food 4 – Dairy Products.
It is important that you only eat fat free or low fat dairy products. Again perfect for helping to build strong bones and help to improve your metabolism which can help you to burn fat more easily.

Food 5 – Instant Oatmeal.
This should be of the unsweetened and unflavored variety and can help to increase a person’s energy levels. Also great for helping to reduce a person’s cholesterol level and keep their blood sugar levels at the right level.

Food 6 – Eggs
The best way to ensure that you do not take in too much cholesterol when including eggs into your abs diet is by removing part of the yolk and using more of the white instead. Again the ideal food for building up muscle and help to burn off fat.

Food 7 – Lean Meats
You can include chicken, turkey and other kinds of lean meat (pork, beef and lamb) and fish as well into this group. Not only great for helping to build up muscle but ideal for helping to improve your immune system as well.

Food 8 – Peanut Butter
You should only include the all natural variety that contains no sugar as this not only helps to build up muscle but also burn fat. Plus for men it is great for boosting their testosterone levels as well.

Food 9 – Olive Oil
Ideal for helping to control a person’s food cravings, but is great for burning fat as well as lowering a person’s cholesterol levels. As with lean meats this oil and other similar ones can help to boost a person’s immune system.

Food 10 – Whole Grain Cereals and Bread
When trying to improve the condition of your abs these foods should be included in your diet as they help to stop your body from storing unwanted fat. But you should avoid eating white bread, bagels and doughnuts.

Food 11 – Whey Powder
This food can be purchased at any good quality health food store or online and not only helps to burn fat but also again helps to build muscle.

Food 12 – Berries
Not only do we mean such fruits as raspberries and strawberries but you should be looking to increase your intake of other fruits such as apples and grapefruits as well. Because they have large amounts of fiber within them they can help to reduce the number of food cravings a person has.

Above we have taken a look at the types of foods you should be including within your abs diet. But it is also important that you take a sufficient amount of exercise each day as well. Just by eating these foods alone will not help you to develop and improve the condition of your abs, they will just help you to lose the weight.

Having six pack abs is not that impressive if they are hidden under excessive body fat. Doing six pack abs exercises every day in the gym is often a waste of valuable training time. There are several factors involved in getting six pack abs. In my opinion, abdominal training is not even one of them.

Six pack abs training is a combination of tree important factors. Fist you have to take some control over your diet. It is also necessary to implement some cardio on a regular basis. Muscle building is also important. Not specifically in your abdominal region. When you have more muscle mass on your body you will burn calories or fat much faster. This will make it much easier to reach your goal.

When people think about dieting they often think of a plan over a certain period of time. It is not. Diet is what you eat. To change your diet in a positive direction you need to change what you eat today with healthier alternatives. Choose darker bread and use vegetables instead of majonese. Skip some after dinner snacks and implement some healthy fruit or a plate of salmon with some tomatoes fried in olive oil.

Eating 5 – 6 smaller meals each day is the best diet I know about. This will help you to keep the metabolism running fast all day long. This will make you and your body knows it is not long till the next meal, so there is no need to over eat.

When you eat five or six portions of food each day you will never go hungry. Have one third of each food group: proteins, carbs and vegetables/fruit. Each of the three groups should be about the size of a handful. With this measurement the portions will fit your body size.

Since you are now eating every two – three hour it is important that you plan your meals. It is always a good idea to make food twice the size of a recommended meal and store half of it for a later meal. It is also important that you have a backup meal for when it is hard to get hold on a portion of healthy food.

To build muscles you will need proteins. Proteins are what muscles are made from so you must focus on getting your daily dose. Lean meat, fish and chicken are all rich in proteins. Milk, beans, grains, nuts and seeds are also good resources.

One third of you meals should be fruits or vegetables. It is important to use a range of different fruits and vegetables. These products are excellent for your immune system and will help you avoid cancer and heart deceases. They are also helpful in the process of growing your muscles.

Caloric intake does matter with regards to getting quick abs. If our caloric intake consists of too much non-quality foods and non-smart eating habits, then no matter how faithfully we workout, we're not going to get quick abs.

Caloric intake does matter with regards to getting quick abs. If our caloric intake consists of too much non-quality foods and non-smart eating habits, then no matter how faithfully we workout, we’re not going to get quick abs.

Choosing healthy foods and doing away with fatty, sugary, calorie-laden foods are a sure way to getting quick abs. A food intake overloaded with calories ensures that not all calories will be used up resulting in their conversion to fat.

Healthy, quality foods are more compatible with our body. These foods are more easily converted to useful energy to fuel our activities. Because they’re all used up, they won’t be converted and stored as fat, usually in our stomach area.

Choosing the right foods and consuming them in smaller amounts but more often during the day ensures that the smaller amount of calories that was just taken in, can now be consumed totally, allowing no excess calories to be converted to fat and stored in the stomach area. In addition, since digestion requires using up energy, excess body fat can be tapped as fuel when recent caloric intake is not enough.

When we add daily workouts to our lives along with choosing the right foods, we are not only promoting heart health, but we are also on our way to revealing great abs. Exercise speeds up our metabolism, which encourages the body to burn fat more efficiently.

Training with weights and intervals keep it interesting and spurs more of a fat burn by overworking the muscles. The muscles now need to repair and nourish themselves, which creates more energy consumption resulting in less calories stored as fat.

Choosing the right foods doesn’t mean skipping meals and starving ourselves. It is very important not to do this because this actually sends a signal to our brain informing it is in an emergency situation already and to start conserving calories. The exact opposite of what we want. So we should eat. Just expend more energy than we take in.

The combined efforts of daily workouts and choosing the right foods are essential to getting quick, nice-looking abs. When we choose the right foods and complement that with workouts, we are choosing the best way to getting quick abs.

Even those of us who are predisposed to carrying extra pounds in the midsection can lose the belly fat and get the attractive flat abs theyve always wanted. Theres no silver bullet which lets you instantly lose this ab flab, but by eating less and getting more exercise, youll make it happen.

It all starts with eating healthy. A good diet which cuts out the empty calories and gives you the nutrition you need will start to eliminate the extra pounds and the flab.

There are some foods you should incorporate into your diet; blueberries and other berries are not only delicious, but help to increase your metabolism and are packed with antioxidants. Have a handful of berries twice a day and youll start burning off fat faster.

Of course you can lose weight by eating a low carb diet; but the carbs arent the real culprit! Any diet that cuts back on caloric intake will result in weight loss. If you want to lose those excess pounds and that unsightly flab, then youll need to not only eat less calories but also take up weight training and cardio exercise.

Now, heres an important diet tip: eating high quality proteins like lean meats and protein supplements helps you to burn off calories at five times the rate it would when eating fats and carbs. Add these lean, high quality proteins to your diet to help lose belly fat.

Try mixing up the amount of carbs you eat every day so that your body does not figure out the routine. People who include frequent changes in their daily intake of carbs and calories see greater weight loss than those who stay on the same boring diet plan every day of the week.

Instead of considering a diet as a temporary means of helping you lose unwanted belly fat you need to make healthy eating a lifestyle change. Likewise your exercising should become part of your daily life. Daily walking or aerobic activities will help you burn fat and when you work with weights you will help tighten, tone, and firm your entire body.

Most fitness experts agree that your abdominals help to support and protect your spine, and thus, they must never be fatigued before doing any non ab exercises such as, chins, rows, deadlifts and squatting movements. These “experts” state that when your abs are fatigued, you are at a greater risk of acquiring a back injury. Based on this, the entire fitness industry insists that you must only do your ab training at the end of your workout.

I see their point to a degree but their philosophy is in stark contrast with “The Priority Principle. The Priority Principle simply says that what gets trained first (while in the freshest state) will get the best training effect. The fitness experts agree that this is a powerful principle with every single muscle group…except the abs. Why would this principle be true for every other muscle group in the human body except the abs?

What if you really want to emphasize training your abs? What if your number one goal is to get ripped, six pack abs?

Under these circumstances, you should prioritize your training and work them at the beginning of your workout.

So I recommend this modification to your workout: if six pack abs are your main concern, train them first! This one simple alteration in training order will make a significant difference in you bottom line results. When following this sequence, you will be able to put forth a better effort because you will be completely fresh.

If you are used to just throwing in a couple of abdominal sets at the end of your workout, you will literally double your rate of progress towards developing your six-pack.

Additionally, prioritized ab training will also provide a great warm up for the workout to follow. I do have one exception to this rule. If you are training with maximal weights, I would opt to train the abs at the end of the workout. Performing any activity that could leave you with residual fatigue prior to a maximal weights workout would be undesirable.

Try this exercise sequence and carve out your six pack faster than you thought was possible!

It should be a straight forward question, at the end of the day the sole purpose of a six pack abs program is to get you a nice washboard six pack abs appearance that everybody seemed to have placed so much focus on!

It should be a straight forward question, at the end of the day the sole purpose of a six pack abs program is to get you a nice washboard six pack abs appearance that everybody seemed to have placed so much focus on!

Even though the internet offers a huge variety of information on building abs, however for beginners especially will find it difficult and lost when trying to piece all the information on abs building together when developing their own abs routine.

If you think getting six pack abs is just knowing which abs exercises are the best, then you might be building yourself up for a huge disappointment! Truth is, there are so much more to abs building than that, and this can easily lead to your inaction due to the fact that there are so much to learn. When trying to piece them together to form a meaningful abs routine, it can easily lead you to information overload instead.

If you’re one of those who have been training regularly, and having your own abs routine to follow, but have yet see any form of result. then an abs program might just work for you! An abs program can help clarify and cross check your workout intensity, making sure you’re not exactly focusing too much on a certain aspect of your abs fitness and neglecting the other equally important area in abs building.

If you once had the perfect body, but then lost it due to some unknown reason that you can not identify, can you learn anything about getting back that same body, and maintaining it for life?

So, think about buying a six pack abs program as a guide, instead of just information. Much like a step by step instruction if you like. Most abs program will cover you with the basics, which is which abs training is proven and works, what are six pack abs diet, what abs routine should you go with depending on where youre starting from.

The next time you brush off the idea of a six pack abs program, check underneath your shirt and see if you can see those abs yet. If youre still seeing excess fats around your stomach, or a mid section that have yet to be developed, getting a sound and proven method developed by professional might not be that bad of a move!

You’ve probably tried a lot of areas focusing on your abs in an attempt to get them in shape. Unfortunately, exercise on its own won’t make you get ripped abs in the way you want. You’re also going to need to eat right and should change your diet in coordination with a workout designed specifically for your goals.

This is not to say exercise isn’t important. In fact, it will be the focus of this article. When you pair the tips here with the right diet, however, your results will be better than ever. In the meantime, work on increasing the amounts of various exercises that you do – unless, of course, your doctor advices against it.

Sometimes, the exercises you’re doing now just aren’t effective enough. The double crunch is a great, more intense, version of the regular crunch. Keeping your elbows back and your knees at a right angle, raise your shoulders as you pull in your knees while you contract your abs for a great workout.

An exercise you might not have heard of is the side bridge. Starting from your right side, push yourself up with your right arm until it is fully extended. Then, extend your left arm up into the air on the other side as well. Hold this position as long as you can. It also works very well on your love handles.

Also, try other variations on familiar exercises, like the plank superman, which comes from a basic plank exercise. Start in the position you already know, but lift an opposing arm and leg. Hold the position for a couple of seconds and then switch to the other side, doing as many of these as you can.

The first few times you use this exercise, you should aim for twenty repetitions, but keep adding more over time. This holds true for any exercise you want to perform. Part of the reason you might not have been succeeding is that your exercises just weren’t working you out at the level you needed.
